The Code of Practice for managing psychosocial hazards at work

This code is based on a national Model Code of Practice developed by Safe Work Australia under the national harmonisation of work health and safety legislation and has been approved under section 274 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (SA), following the legislated consultation.

This code of practice commenced in South Australia on 19 February 2026.

The code provides practical guidance for people who have work health and safety duties relating to managing psychosocial hazards and risks in their workplaces. These codes do not replace the WHS laws but give guidance on:

• best practice controls for particular types of psychosocial hazards
• how to achieve the standards required under the Act
• effective ways to identify and manage psychosocial risks.
