A workplace safety guide for hospitality managers is now available for the broader hospitality industry for the first time.

The Managers Guide to WHS has been developed by the Hospitality Industry Work Health and Safety Association of South Australia and is an updated version of a previous guide published in 2013.

This guide will help employers in the hospitality industry strengthen and improve their work health and safety practices by providing managers with access to the most relevant templates, policies and information in an easy-to-use format.

SafeWork SA understands that hospitality is a very broad industry with risks and hazards ranging from industrial kitchens to service of alcohol and large-scale events such as the Adelaide Fringe.

This guide is broken down into four sections covering leadership and commitment, consultation and communication, hazard management and templates and checklists.

The Hospitality Industry Work Health and Safety Association includes representatives from the Australian Hotel Association (SA), Clubs SA, Institute of Hospitality in Healthcare, United Workers Union and SafeWork SA.

The updated guide has an ‘Additional Support and Services’ listing contact details for SafeWork SA, ReturnToWorkSA, and hospitality industry group associations.
