Training providers who wish to deliver training for elected Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and deputy HSRs in South Australia can apply to SafeWork SA for approval.
Prospective training providers must:
- ensure they have sufficient resources to undertake the administrative activities necessary to comply, as well as meet the requirements set out in the Approved Training Provider guidelines
- develop HSR training courses for approval by referring to the Learning objectives and outcomes guidelines
- complete the appropriate learning objective matrix for the course developed
- submit Application for approval to deliver HSR training form and follow the instructions for completing application
Applications for renewal must be made at least three months before the approval period expires. Approved status remains until the application has been assessed and a decision has been advised.
Approved Training Providers applying to renew must:
- ensure they still meet the requirements set out in the Approved Training Provider guidelines
If no major changes have been made to course(s),
- Prepare a written statement declaring that no substantial changes have been made to previously approved course materials, and (if applicable) a list of any minor changes - refer to the Learning objectives and outcomes guidelines
If course materials have changed substantially,
- complete the appropriate learning objective matrix for the course developed
- submit Application for approval to deliver HSR training (renewal) form and follow the instructions for completing application
Ideally, training providers will be able to offer all HSR courses following the initial 5-day course approval. Training providers applying for approval of additional courses must:
- ensure they still meet the requirements set out in the Approved Training Provider guidelines
- develop HSR training courses for approval by referring to the Learning objectives and outcomes guidelines
- complete the appropriate learning objective matrix for the course developed
- submit Application for approval to deliver HSR training (additional courses) form and follow the instructions for completing application
Approved Training Providers must seek SafeWork SA approval before new trainers can deliver HSR training.
To add a trainer from an existing approval, you must:
- ensure the trainer meets the required qualifications set out in the Approved Training Provider guidelines
- submit Application for approval to deliver HSR training (add/remove trainer) form and follow the instructions for completing application
To remove a trainer from an existing approval, you need to submit the above form only.
