SafeWork SA has responded to two incidents at Circus Rio, in our role of administering work health and safety legislation.

On Saturday 20 July, inspectors attended the circus after an accident during a motorcycle act. Inspectors directed the circus operators to bring in an expert to assess the integrity of the tent structure in light of the crash. A rigger assessed and confirmed the safety of the structure to the satisfaction of SafeWork SA inspectors.

A Prohibition Notice has been placed on the motorcycle involved in the accident in order to ensure it is mechanically sound.

SafeWork SA is focused on WHS compliance for worker and public safety while the circus remains in South Australia.
