The PAW psychosocial risk assessment survey and platform will be decommissioned over the next 12 months.
Due to changes in legislation, newly developed tools and updated research on psychosocial hazards, the PAW survey may no longer fully meet the needs of organisations and small businesses seeking to explore psychosocial hazards in their workplace.
Users will be able to create new accounts on the PAW platform until 1 June 2026. Organisations will have until 1 July to launch final new surveys. They will need to close all surveys and extract their reports before 2 October.
Frequently asked questions
Since the launch of PAW, there have been changes in legislation, newly developed tools and updated research on psychosocial hazards.
Due to the changing environment, the PAW survey may no longer fully meet the needs of organisations and small businesses seeking to explore psychosocial hazards in their workplace. It was found that:
- People at Work requires modification to adequately address additional hazards identified in the Model Code of Practice: Managing psychosocial hazards at work (i.e., sexual harassment and isolated work). (external site)
- Recent survey cycles suggest a gradual decline in staff engagement and response rates, which may be reducing the overall impact of the survey.
- Some users have shared that the post-survey People at Work report could offer more detail to better support targeted action and meaningful organisational change.
- The survey re-design and update of resources would require dedicated investment.
- New research has informed evidence-based tools that now offer shorter, more precise ways to assess psychosocial hazards.
The decommissioning of PAW is being conducted over a 10-month period to allow for organisations to complete any existing surveys, and to retrieve any associated reporting.

These jurisdictions will receive the final deidentified data set from the survey for research purposes, and the Office of Industrial Relations will remain the data custodian for the dataset.
The national PAW website will be closed.
