The festive shopping season is in full swing following the Black Friday sales and the extended shopping hours will continue until the new year.

Legislation allowing shops across Adelaide to open at 9am on Sundays also kicked in this month.

The Shop Trading Hours (Extension of Hours) Amendment Act 2022 also locks in Boxing Day trading across Adelaide from 9am to 5pm and allowed shops to trade until midnight on Black Friday (the fourth Thursday in November each year).

In addition, shops will be allowed to trade until midnight on up to three additional weekdays in the period between 11 December and 23 December. This year the three additional dates will be Thursday 15, Thursday 22 and Friday 23 December.

This festive season Christmas Day and New Year’s Day fall on Sundays, creating additional public holidays on Tuesday 27 December and Monday 2 January. Shops will be allowed to trade from 9am to 5pm on these days.

Here’s your guide to the full list of Greater Adelaide’s Extended Shopping Hours over the Festive season. Please note that normal trading hours will apply on all other days.

In regional areas, Proclaimed Districts only applies to the towns of Millicent, Mallala, Binnum, Frances and Kybybolite. The rest of regional SA is deregulated and shops can trade whenever they choose.
