Congratulations to the 2017 Organise Your Own Workplace Activity winners English Rose Funerals, Smith & Georg and Country Health Connect.
English Rose Funerals focused on mental and emotional health and wellbeing during National Safe Work Month. As a workplace that deals with grief on a daily basis, there are times when staff need additional support. English Rose Funerals held discussions and support sessions on mental health and wellbeing to help staff recognise signs of when their peer may need support or assistance. The sessions gave everyone the tools they need to help them cope in difficult situations.
Smith & Georg introduced a comprehensive new WHS program at their workplace. They implemented daily 'toolbox talks' to allow their workers to raise WHS topics and concerns in an open-house forum environment. From there, Smith and Georg addressed all of these WHS concerns in their Monthly Management meeting. The WHS information that Smith and Georg gathered from this new process was used to update their training manuals, which now include a greater focus on WHS topics.
Country Health Connect held many activities throughout National Safe Work Month including a visit from a physiotherapist, an 'intro to Pilates' session, and a weekly scheduled walking group. In addition staff had ergonomic assessments at their workstation and participated in online manual tasks training.
Congratulations to all three workplaces for having the conversation during National Safe Work Month 2017.
