Incident Alert
14 September 2018
SafeWork SA is investigating an incident that occurred yesterday, where a worker sustained injuries. It is believed the worker climbed up pallet racking to collect items from an upper level. It is believed as the worker stepped on a pallet, it snapped, causing the worker to fall onto a steel trolley below, hitting their head. General safety information: SafeWork SA reminds everyone that falls are a major cause of death and serious injury in Australian workplaces. Half of all falls that result in a fatality, involve falling from heights of three metres or less. Remember to assess the task and select the appropriate tools, plant and equipment when accessing items or retrieving items from heights. Watch our four-part educational video series that can help you manage the risk when working at heights and help manage the risk of falling. This series will assist business operators in complying with their work health and safety responsibilities, as well as providing information and tips to workers. https://www.safework.sa.gov.au/health-safety/hazards-risks/slips-trips-falls/falls-management-video-series#
