Incident Alert
25 October 2018

We are investigating an incident that occurred earlier this week in Andrews (north of Clare), where two workers have been seriously injured. It is believed the workers were in the immediate vicinity of a scissor lift that came into contact with overhead power lines (19,000 volts). SafeWork SA are working together with SAPOL - investigations are continuing.

General safety information:

Each year scissor lifts continue to be associated with workplace injuries and deaths. SafeWork SA reminds everyone about the importance of working safely with and in the vicinity of scissor lifts and the dangers of working near power lines.

Read our Avoiding Utility Strikes Toolbox 4: Working near overhead power lines that outlines the safe approach limits for people and minimum safe clearance distances for machinery when working near overhead power lines.

Workplace safety is everyone’s responsibility.
