  4. If a Saturday, that day is the public holiday. If a Sunday, that and the following Monday are both public holidays.
  5. Also recognised in South Australia as Volunteer's Day.
  6. A part-day public holiday from 7pm to 12 midnight.
  7. If a Saturday, the following Monday is the public holiday. If a Sunday or Monday, that and the following Tuesday are both public holidays.

Part-day public holidays

Part-day public holidays occur between 7pm and 12 midnight on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

People working at these times must be paid the public holiday entitlements provided for in their relevant award or enterprise agreement.

Part-day public holidays are recognised in the National Employment Standards. This standard applies to all private sector workers and includes provision for a worker to reasonably refuse to work on a public holiday (either part-day or full day).

Exempt shops can continue to trade during the hours that suit their business needs, including on all part-day and full day public holidays.

Non-exempt shops can also trade until 9pm on these part-day public holidays, if they fall on a weekday.
