About us

SafeWork SA’s youth gateway aims to provide young people with valuable information and resources about working conditions (industrial relations) and occupational health, safety and welfare (OHSW).

Our primary role is to promote and encourage safe, fair and productive working lives for all South Australians, including young people, by working with employers, employees, unions and industry representatives.

SafeWork SA is responsible for administering OHSW legislation (including dangerous substances laws) along with industrial relations legislation, to protect the working rights of employees, whilst providing assistance to employers.

SafeWork SA is a business unit of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC). The department delivers specialist policy advice to the Premier and Ministers, supports the Cabinet process and provides direction and leadership to the South Australian public service.

DPC leads the implementation of South Australia’s Strategic Plan, has overarching responsibility for federal-state relations and drives key government initiatives across a range of services benefiting other government service delivery agencies and the community.

The department works closely with these groups to develop polices and deliver programs in the areas of social inclusion, Aboriginal wellbeing, the arts, industrial relations, sustainability and climate change, occupational health and safety, and government records access and preservation.

For more information on DPC, visit the website at www.premcab.sa.gov.au.
