Child employment is an area of regulation that remains in the state jurisdiction.
This means that any state laws dealing with child employment will apply to all employers in South Australia whether they are in the private sector, the public sector or local government.
The Government introduced the Child Employment Bill 2011 (the 2011 Bill) to the Legislative Council on 10 March 2011.
In December 2011, the 2011 Bill lapsed due to the prorogation of Parliament.
