South Australian organisations with workplace safety responsibilities can apply for Work Health and Safety (WHS) Innovative Practice Grants (IPG). Funded projects are for the development and dissemination of innovative safety practices that contribute to reducing work injuries, diseases and fatalities in South Australia. Proposed projects should be able to be completed within one year.
Significant funding is now available for new projects in 2013, with a maximum of $50,000 for any individual project. $130,000 of new funding is made availalbe each year from SafeWork SA.
The 2013 call for applications opens on 7 January 2013 and closes on 22 February 2013.
It is important to note that the project must have broad relevance. Projects must move beyond merely addressing a legal WHS obligation for the applicant (such as safety training or risk management). They must be more than a business venture with benefits only for the applicant. The outcomes or deliverables must be relevant beyond the site/workplace where the project is conducted. Furthermore, the application must not be for venture capital for commercial product design, development or manufacture.
Successful applicants will be decided at a meeting of the SafeWork SA Advisory Committee on 4 June 2013.
Applications must be submitted using the IPG2013 Application Template (Word 58kb) in accordance with the IPG2013 Information for Applicants (PDF 21kb).
Under the assessment criteria, applications for IPG projects must be relevant to one or more of the priorities of the WHS Strategic Framework for South Australia (PDF 328kb).
