New national IR laws will alter coverage of South Australian industrial awards
As of 1 January 2010, South Australian private sector employers and employees operate under new national industrial relations laws. This means that the coverage of South Australian industrial awards has changed.
The Commonwealth Fair Work Act 2009 now covers the whole of the private sector, including the non-government community services sector, private schools and universities.
Please note: as of 1 January 2010, the industrial awards provided at the links below , apply only to employers and employees in the South Australian public sector, local government and prescribed Government Business Enterprises.
The new national industrial laws provide for former state awards and agreements to be transferred to the Commonwealth and operate there for a time. If you are in the private sector the award links below may provide useful reference points. However, the award may have a modified form under the Commonwealth Fair Work Act 2009.
