To assess the impact of the listed public holidays on industrial relations (wages and employment conditions) it will be necessary for parties to refer to their industrial instruments (awards, agreements, employment contracts and in many cases to the National Employment Standards).

Days fixed as public holidays may change in the following circumstances:

• the Public Holidays Act may fix another day in lieu when a public holiday is due on the weekend
• the Governor may proclaim a day in substitute for another, or an additional day.
