Hiring staff
When you hire staff for a new business, or add staff to an existing business,
you take on responsibilities for ensuring that the workplace is safe for
you and your employees.
A new worker is three times more likely to be injured at work than other
workers. To avoid injury new workers will require time with their supervisor
at the start of a new job to ensure they are properly inducted to the
workplace. Information for new employers and small business resources
are available from hiring staff.
Outdoor work
Outdoor workers, such as labourers, are at risk from exposure to the
elements, especially damage from the sun. The farm environment also poses
particular risks from heavy machinery and chemicals. Find out more by
viewing safety information on outdoor
work.
