Plastics and rubber manufacturing news
Network forums
Over the past year the Plastics and Rubber Committee has facilitated
bi-monthly network forums for the industry.
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) representatives and others from
companies within the industry are invited to attend. The forums enable
industry people to get together to learn and discuss ideas and information
about safety issues particular to the plastics industry.
The forums cover topics such as:
- Drugs and alcohol in the workplace
- Manual handling
- Trimming techniques
- Machine guarding
- Hazardous substances.
Self-paced learning kit

In 2003 the National Safety Council of Australia were contracted to develop
an Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) kit for the Plastics and
Rubber Industry. An innovative, informative and simple to use self
paced learning kit is now available.
Useful for both employers and employees, the kit is designed to
help the industry's small and medium size businesses improve safety by
providing individual safety modules which they can work through at their
own pace.
The occupational health and safety self paced learning kit is available
under plastics and rubber
manufacturing resources.
