In 1995, WorkCover Corporation, in consultation with key industry bodies formed a working party under the high-risk industry program.
The aim of the working party was to oversee projects in a bid that would improve health and safety performance in the Aged Care Industry. In 1998, Safer Industries evolved from this program.
The Aged Care Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Working Party held a planning day with representatives from the Aged Care industry. The information from this planning day was used to define five key goals, with the objective of reducing injury in the industry.
The Aged Care OHS Working Party is continuing to work towards these goals, as outlined in the strategic plan under SAfer industries.
