Five South Australian community care organisations received safe work assistance
in 2001.
Part of a grants project - the initiative was facilitated by an industry consultant under the SAfer Aged Care program.
In 2003, the Safer Industries Aged Care Working Party established a steering
committee to review and update the guidelines for managing OHS&W in community
care.
The second edition of managing OHS&W in home and the community have been developed through consultation with key stakeholders within the aged care industry, including residential aged care, disability service office, SAPOL Mental Health and both rural and central community care providers.
These guidelines aim to assist you as an employer, manager or co-ordinator to manage hazards that you and your staff may face. It provides case studies illustrating solutions that have proven successful elsewhere and includes tools such as checklists and forms that you can adapt to your own workplace.
